St. Petersburg has become the more walkable, more artsy half of Tampa Bay's nightlife, and Central Avenue is the spine of it. If Tampa's bachelorette scene lives in Ybor, St. Pete's lives on Central, running from the EDGE District through downtown and out toward Beach Drive. Here's an actual route to follow, not just a list of bars, so the bride's crew can hit the right stretch at the right time without doubling back.
Start in the EDGE District
Begin on Central Avenue in the EDGE District, the stretch of dive bars, craft breweries and late-night spots that sits just west of downtown. It's the most casual part of the crawl, loud and low-key at the same time, and a good place to ease in before the group hits the busier downtown blocks. Plan on 60 to 90 minutes here so everyone's settled before you move.
This is also where a party bus earns its keep. EDGE District parking is tight on weekend nights, and there's no reason to circle blocks looking for a spot when the bus can just pull up, wait, and roll the group straight to the next stretch.
Move into downtown and the Grand Central District
From EDGE, head east along Central into the Grand Central District and downtown proper. This is where the bar density peaks: cocktail bars, rooftop patios and later-night spots packed within a few walkable blocks. Give this stretch the most time on the route, roughly two hours, since it's where most groups end up staying the longest.
Timing tip: hit downtown Central after 8 p.m. once the dinner crowd has cleared out and the bar crowd has arrived. Earlier than that and a lot of spots are still half restaurant, half bar.
Finish upscale on Beach Drive, or go quiet in Gulfport
Two ways to close out the night, depending on the bride's vibe. If she wants a classier finish, route the bus over to Beach Drive near the Vinoy and the St. Pete Pier, where the waterfront bars and restaurant patios are dressier and calmer, a good landing spot for late drinks with a view instead of another loud room. If the group would rather wind down away from downtown entirely, Gulfport is the quieter alternative: a few miles south, with a laid-back strip of bars and restaurants that feels like a different town altogether.
Either way, save this for last. Beach Drive and Gulfport both reward showing up once the group has already had its loud, high-energy stretch on Central, not before.
