The Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is the big draw, with an underwater observatory for manatees and a boardwalk through native Florida wildlife, and Old Homosassa, a few miles west along the water, is where the guide services, fish camps and the old water tower keep the fishing-village feel alive. Monkey Island still has its resident spider monkeys out in the river, and the Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins mark the site of a 19th-century sugar plantation just up the road. This is a nature and fishing town more than a nightlife one, so our runs here tend to be family reunions, retirement celebrations and manatee-park day trips rather than bar crawls.
